Green Advantage
Thinking green and promoting energy conservation and efficiency has been a constant at Merlin Contracting for 20 years. We always advise clients to build with better insulated windows, doors, walls and ceilings, higher seer HVAC systems, efficient lighting systems, ICF (insulating concrete form) walls and water-efficient landscaping. It makes perfect sense for many reasons, whether you’re building a smaller custom home or large custom estate.
Steve and Bart Jones are both National Association of Home Builders Certified Green Professionals, so they know what they’re doing when it comes to making logical, cost-effective suggestions to clients.
Merlin is currently participating in the SNHBA’s Green Building Program. The program helps members, like Merlin, move the practice of green building into the mainstream with an emphasis on energy efficiency, water and resource conservation, utilizing sustainable or recycled products, and enhancing indoor air quality. We send our construction waste to a recycle company.
If you want to build green, Merlin can incorporate environmental considerations and resource efficiency into every step of your home-building and land development process to minimize environmental impact. From design and construction to operation of your home, Merlin will assess your overall impact on the environment during all phases of your project and make suitable recommendations every step of the way.
Merlin pioneered building Las Vegas green custom homes while constructing the 5,000-square-foot New American Home 2004. All exterior walls were built with Insulted Concrete Forms (ICF). This LEED rated product from Arxx Walls reduced the cost to heat and cool this home by over 45% and was purchased through the Las Vegas distributor ICF llc.
